Roommate Preference Form

Please fill out the below form to select your roommate for your international field study by the deadline that Be World Ready has provided you.

If you do not have a preferred roommate, please leave the Preferred Roommate box blank. Be World Ready will assist you by placing you in a room with another student of the same gender. It is important to note that Be World Ready will not place any students in a room with anyone of the opposite gender unless both parties agree in writing. If your selection changes before the trip, we may not be in a position to accommodate a late roommate change request or single room supplement.

Please note that accommodations will be double occupancy (two people sharing a room) and each room has been requested to have two separate beds, unless you have been notified otherwise. Be World Ready makes every effort to ensure that there will be two separate beds in each room. However, sometimes circumstances arise which are outside of the Be World Ready team’s control where we are unable to guarantee our preferred room type of two separate beds.

Students will be notified of their roommates via email prior to your scheduled pre-departure training session. Should you have any concerns with your assigned roommate, please reach out to the Be World Ready team immediately and at least 4 weeks before the trip’s departure date, and we will advise on what changes may be possible. Alternatively, you may select to have your own room, where available, for the duration of your international field study at an additional cost which will be billed directly to your student account.

Gender Inclusive Rooming Arrangements(Required)

Diversity is an important part of the cultural landscape at Niagara College, and Be World Ready (BWR) considers gender diversity to be an important aspect of this. BWR believes that students have a right to stay in a rooming arrangement that is inclusive and respectful of their gender identity. In the interest of creating an equitable and inclusive community, BWR offers mixed-gender rooming options for our International Field Studies participants. Mixed-gender rooming is optional for students, dependent on availability, and is offered to all students including cisgender, transgender, and non-binary students. Students have the option to select a same-gender rooming arrangement or a mixed-gender rooming arrangement. Students also have the option to request a specific roommate; however, roommate requests are not guaranteed and are subject to room occupancy requirements and availability. By selecting your rooming arrangement preference, you acknowledge that you agree to be matched with a roommate of the identified gender, selected by BWR. You also acknowledge that you understand that mixed-gender rooming selections are not guaranteed.
