Global Learning Experience Eligibility Criteria
- Are currently enroled full-time in Culinary Management, Pastry Arts or Culinary Innovation at Niagara College. Students must have completed the SERVSAFE certificate and will require basic knowledge of knife skills, culinary terminology, food science principles, and cooking methods of starches, proteins, and vegetables.
- Are in good academic standing, as defined by Niagara College’s policies, at the time of registration and before the GLE departure dates.
- Will be enroled in the *Be World Ready (SOCL 1128 or IDPL 9103) course as part of their GLE .
- If you do not have any remaining general or liberal electives left to complete for your program, you would be subject to the Tuition-Credits Exceeding Load fee. Information regarding this fee will be shared with you at the time of your registration by BWR.
- Remain actively enroled, full-time, in a program at Niagara College during the term of the GLE.
- Have not yet taken part in a Be World Ready GLE (formerly called IFS) before.
High - Standing in kitchen, extended walking, uneven terrain/inclines, sitting for day trips, longer periods of standing during site visits, kitchen work in labs with high temperature exposure. **DISCLAIMER: Students are expected to participate and complete all portions of the program as designed. All international or domestic students, in full-time or part-time* status, and in good academic standing at Niagara College, are eligible for a Be World Ready grant to help offset the cost of their international experience. You must be actively enroled in studies during the term of travel to participate. Global Learning Experiences participation is permitted only for students who have not yet experienced a Be World Ready GLE since beginning their studies at Niagara College. The BWR grant has been applied to the total cost of the experience to subsidize the rate per person for our GLEs. To qualify for the full value of the BWR grant applied to the GLE, mandatory training and tasks are required to be completed, training and task expectations will be clearly communicated. Failure to complete the requirements as outlined may result in disqualification of grant eligibility. Details on grant requirements will be shared with you as part of the mandatory Be World Ready (SOCL 1128 or IDPL 9103) course, which all students participating in a Be World Ready GLE must enrol in and successfully complete. Eligibility requirements can vary from term-to-term, and from one experience to the next. Please refer to the Global Learning Experience Eligibility Criteria section of the specific GLE page to determine if you are eligible.
*Part-time students, are defined by Be World Ready as those actively enroled in a Niagara College program, taking a minimum of 2 classes during the term of the GLE that contribute to their program progression and credential completion. Students taking a class that does not contribute to a program would not qualify to participate in a Be World Ready GLE.

Submit any required documentation, as outlined in the registration process.
Check your NC student email frequently, and check your spam folder to be safe, for your confirmation email will come from [email protected]. Note, the BWR team maintains regular weekday office hours and will review your application during office hours.
Follow the payment instructions in your confirmation email sent by BWR by the timeframe provided to secure your spot on your selected GLE.
