Cork Ireland – Global Leadership on the Emerald Isle – F22

Join Be World Ready this fall and experience the magic, enchantment, and beauty of Ireland which is known for its lush green landscape and rolling hills! Ireland is truly a magical and enchanting land where it is said that fairies exist and leprechauns roam.

Upon arrival in Dublin, we will board our private transportation and be whisked off to Cork while taking in the incredible landscape along the way. We visit famous sights such as the Rock of Cashel and Blarney Castle where if you are feeling lucky, you can kiss the Blarney Stone and receive the gift of gab before engaging in thought provoking activities and seminars with your peers at the Munster Technological University. Our itinerary has us spending 6 incredible nights exploring Cork before returning to Ireland’s capital, Dublin, for one last night before returning to Canada.

DAY 1: October 21, 2022

The day has finally arrived, and you are Ireland bound! Travel to Toronto Pearson International Airport to join your fellow Niagara College peers to board your Air Transat flight to Dublin. Sit back, relax, and try to catch a few winks on this overnight flight as the adventure begins in the morning.

DAY 2: October 22, 2022

Rub the sleep from your eyes and don your finest green, you have officially touched down in Dublin! Collect your bags and board our private transportation and prepare for adventure in Cork! Our first visit is to the Rock of Cashel. Home of Ancient kings, patron saints and unparalleled beauty – the Rock of Cashel brings together Ireland’s long legacy and trademark stunning scenery. Silhouetted against the sky, rising above the lush green fields of the surrounding countryside, the Rock is home to over 1,000 years of history. Next, we will embark on a private coach to Cork, check into our accommodations, have some time to freshen up and then it’s time to enjoy an evening of Ceilidh (traditional Irish music & dance) inside a warm, character filled pub.

DAY 3: October 23, 2022

After a hearty Full Irish breakfast at our hotel, spend your afternoon experiencing the best Cork has to offer with the Cork City Hop on Hop Off Tour! Visit the world-famous English Market, stop on St. Patrick’s Street to shop local brands, try your hand at ringing the bells at Shandon Cathedral and visit the Gothic Revival of St. Finbarre’s Cathedral. Spend the evening enjoying a Franciscan Well Brewery Tour!

DAY 4: October 24, 2022

Your first day at Munster Technical University will include a campus tour of one of Europe’s leaders in innovation and a lecture on Globalization & the Future of work. The evening will be spent on touring the famous Jameson Distillery. The Jameson Experience Tour is a fully guided tour around the original Middleton Distillery which brings the stories of Jameson’s rich heritage to life. You will learn about the hard-working people and field-to-glass processes responsible for the whiskey that bears John Jameson’s name. No tour at Jameson Distillery would be complete without a tasting!

DAY 5: October 25, 2022

This morning, students will partake in a meaningful discussion on cross cultural competencies and how they apply to an organization. Cross cultural competencies are quickly becoming one of the most desired skill sets in future candidates by corporations worldwide! The evening will be spent enjoying live music and a group dinner at Oliver Plunkett. This traditional Irish pub named after the famous Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City is famous for the atmosphere built on music and dance that has long been a sweet spot for many looking for a great night out.

DAY 6: October 26, 2022

The theme of our educational session this morning will be the importance of diversity in the workforce. Following the lecture, we are invited to visit the Lord Mayor of Cork and tour Cork City Hall. Learn why in 2019 the city extended its boundary for the first time in 50 years and welcomed 85,000 new residents in one day!

DAY 7: October 27, 2022

Today, we explore the growth of international businesses with our fellow peers at MTU. This evening, we change things up and head into the city to explore Cork’s historic jail (gaol)! Cork is a city with a very rich historical and archaeological heritage much of it still in evidence today. Part of this heritage, Cork City Gaol, is a magnificent castle-like building which once housed 19th century prisoners. Take a trip back in time and wander through the wings of the Gaol, accompanied by the shuffling feet of inmates and the jingle of the warden’s keys. The cells are furnished with amazingly life-like wax figures and graffiti on the cell walls reveals the innermost feelings of some inmates. The audio-visual show will help you learn about the social history and contrasting lifestyles of 19th century Cork.

DAY 8: October 28, 2022

Your last full day in Ireland will be spent visiting one of the most famous historical sites in the world – The Blarney Castle! Built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftans, the castle has been attracting attention ever since. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. Found at the top of the tower is the legendary Stone of Eloquence. Try your luck and kiss the Blarney Stone to be blessed with the gift of gab. You will never be lost for words again!

After departing the Blarney Castle, we return to Dublin where we will spend our final night together as a group, reflecting on the incredible things that we have learned this week. Enjoy your final evening in Dublin and join your peers for a farewell dinner. Sláinte!

DAY 9: October 29, 2022

Board your private transportation for the final time as you head to the Dublin Airport. Board your flight on Air Transat and take in one final aerial view of the Emerald Isle and reflect on your amazing experience on your way home to Toronto.

Disclaimers: Be World Ready does their best to execute the itinerary as outlined above, however all elements are subject to change based on availability or requirement to adapt due to circumstances outside of our control. Cost of the overall experience may fluctuate up to a maximum of $200.00 +/- CAD due to volume of participants and local exchange rate. Students will be informed in writing as early as possible if it is foreseen that the cost will increase. Students are also reminded that it is their responsibility to research the entry requirements to the destination countries visited per their nationality and vaccination status.

* Price per student is in Canadian Dollars and reflects the Be World Ready (BWR) grant which has been applied to the total trip cost to heavily subsidize the rate per person for our Fall 2022 International Field Studies (IFS). Our future IFS BWR grants will not remain this high. To qualify for the full value of the BWR grant applied to this IFS, mandatory training and tasks are required to be completed, training and task expectations will be clearly communicated by BWR staff upon registration. Failure to complete the requirements as outlined by BWR staff will result in the value of the grant being billed back to the applicable student account, up to a maximum of $2500. Securing your seat on this trip will occur on a first come, first serve basis based on registration date, and meeting payment timelines.
