India – Exploring Healthcare

Travel to one of the most beautiful countries in the world and practice your skills outside the classroom. India offers the chance to experience an entirely different health care system, see one of the Seven Wonders of the World and grow your skills and abilities as a health care professional.

Day 1| Depart for Delhi!

Sunday April 19

Sit back and relax as we make our way to Delhi, India on an overnight flight!

 

Day 2| Arrive in Delhi!

Monday April 20

With a late arrival to Delhi, you will arrive to your accommodations to rest up and get set for your adventure in India to begin.

Day 3| Taj Mahal

Tuesday April 21

Today we will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World – The Taj Mahal. This enormous mausoleum was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his beloved wife. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, it remains one of the world’s most celebrated structures and a stunning symbol of India’s rich history. After returning to Dehli we will visit Cyber City, Gurgaon  a corporate park which houses some of the top IT & Fortune 500 companies.

Day 4| Chandigarh

Wednesday, April 22

Today we depart Delhi for Chandigarh. After check into our hotel upon we will have an orientation with our partners at INSCOL, followed by a group welcome dinner.

 

 

Day 5| Chandigarh

Thursday, April 23

Today you will shadow practicing professionals and tour both a private and public hospital in the Chandigarh Region. You will also get a private lesson on Ayurveda healing methods. Later in the afternoon, you will receive some preparatory training before heading out the next day for community outreach.

 

 

Day 6 – 8| Clinical Outreach

Friday, April 24- Sunday, April 26

Put your skills to work during clinical outreach within the local communities of Chandigarh including Nanhe Kadm Village, Nanhe Kadm public school and Gharuan Village.

 

 

 

Day 9| Guided Tour of Chandigarh

Monday, April 27

Take a guided city tour of Chandigarh including Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake & Artisanal Market. Chandigarh has the distinction of having a unique world-acclaimed Rock Garden. The open air sculptures and concealed gateways separating them are at places enhanced by a waterfall, pools and an open-air theatre. Get ready for some amazing traditional biryani at your farewell reception with the Consul General to Chandigarh to share your experiences about this life-changing experience.

Day 10| Clinical Outreach

Tuesday, April 28

Clinical Outreach will continue in Dayapura Village.

Day 11| Hauz Khas

Wednesday, April 29

Today we make our way back to Delhi and have the afternoon to explore Dilli Haat market. Dilli Haat has been well known since medieval times and is filled with handicrafts, curios, old carpets, and designer clothing.

Day 12| Delhi Highlights

Thursday, April 30

Take part in a guided city tour of Delhi including Red Fort, India Gate, The Parliament House, Lotus Temple.  Declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site  in 2007 the The Red Fort served as the royal residence of the Mughal emperors from 1648 to 1857 and is of importance to the people of India today as the Indian Prime Minister delivers his Independence Day speech from The Fort every year on August 15. The India Gate, originally named All India War Memorial, was built to pay homage to the 82,000 soldiers of the Undivided Indian Army who lost their lives fighting for the British Empire in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War.  The Lotus Temple is built in the shape of a lotus flower and is the last of seven Major Bahai’s temples built around the world.

Day 13| Depart India
